Is it 3 years already?

There was me, thinking it was only two, but the screw up in Iraq has been going on for three years now.

At what point does Blair realise that he’s lost the plot?

Unfortunately, I think Blair’s ego may be preventing him from admitting an obvious mistake.

Oh, and by the way, on behalf of the United States, please allow me to apologize for the actions of our drunken cowboy/president. I wish we could say that we only elected him as a joke, but it seems those that actually voted for him really thought it was a good idea at the time.

Of course, as an outsider looking in, I always thought that Blair had more upstairs than Bush (of course, I also think that most lint is more intelligent than the current US president).

As far as I’m concerned, every death that has occurred in Iraq, regardless of nationality of the victim, that occurred after it was discovered that the whole WMD thing was concocted, has been a complete and utter waste. I know I don’t feel any safer, and it certainly doesn’t help that for the foreseeable future any time my wife and I travel abroad we will have to pretend to be Canadian.

Hi Matt, sorry for the delay in getting back to you – real life work and deadlines.

I think Blair’s ego might have just tripped him up – the presdential style (a big no-no over here in the land on the monarchy) is starting to grate with too many people. Even his staunch supporter, The Sun newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch, is starting to waver with the current row over sleazy loans to the Labour party going on. Over there, it seems the ‘King George’ approach doesn’t go down too well either.

I don’t think the US people have to apologise for Bush. I don’t think the US electorate quite knew what he was planning and how he would work out in a second term. Alas, the Democrats don’t seem to be able to field a contender strong enough to ensure victory, but I really, really hope the mid-terms restore some balance in their favour. A Congress and Senate effectively run by the same party and voting on totally partisan lines isn’t an effective democracy, I don’t think. When we’re meant to be showing the world how it should be done, Labour, Blair, Bush and all the crapola going on isn’t exactly a shining example, is it?

If you’ve ever in the UK, drop me a line, regardless of whatever nationality you’re travelling as. :) It would be good to meet up, as US citizens or Canadians

    Cheers

    Pete
