I’ve done the deed and changed fom good old MT to WordPress 2.0 and it seems to be working pretty well. Installation was straightforward, the conversion from MT 3 to WordPress for the existing articles took a few seconds and the choice of templates was pretty good. I settled on “Connections” for now, but no doubt I’ll have a play with it to see how I make it more suitable for me.
The redirection isn’t done yet, I’m still getting to the old archives instead of the new imported posts, but I was never a whizz with Regular Expressions. I managed to get the redirect from the old MT site (/blog) to the new location only after both deleting the mtview.php file as well as doing a HTML redirect in the index.html file. I think the feeds are still working, not that there are many subscribers, but it’s nice to know that I could redirect them without problems, certainly they’re working for me.
So, here’s to 2006 with a new look and hopefully a few more updates to the blog. I’m taking Michael’s approach of small, frequent updates. This should mean I spend a bit more time on the updates, but it’s more useful for myself in the future to remember all the small things that happened.
