Companies House – we don’t get this ‘web’ thing

I couldn’t believe this when I saw it first. I wanted to find out some information from Companies House – the official UK organisation that incorporates, tracks and dissolves limited companies in the UK. No problem, they have their WebCheck program, I’ve used it before, so off I went.

I’m sure there’s a valid reason why their web site should be closed on Sunday, I just can’t think of one.

That’s an improvement – a few years ago it’d have been closed on Tuesday afternoon and Saturdays as well.

Surely it;s more bother to close it on Sundays and reopen it on Monday than to leave it running all week?

Maybe the boss there is part of the keep Sunday special campaign. Just think of that poor web server!

  3. I had a similar experience and decided to contact companies house for an explanation. It turns out that their database(s) need to be taken offline for batch work, see this post on my blog.
