As mentioned earlier, my barnet has been downsized in accordance with the current reality. For the curious, this is the new look.

There you go. It had to happen, and frankly I’m surprised I wasn’t as bald as a coot aged 30.

For a good few years now, I’ve been watching the top of my head appear slowly from beneath my wonderful locks. Much like a worm sticking it’s head out of it’s hole in the morning, my scalp is emerging into the light and it caused me some concern, such was my vanity.
Now, however, that’s in the past and I have fully embraced the inevitable descent into slapheadedness with a good, old-fashioned No. 1 all over.
True, I appear slightly thug-like, but I’m hoping that my naturally pleasant features, combined with the fact I wear glasses might suggest more of a sci-fi author type of look to the more aware members of society. We’ll see – Monday it’s back to work, and I’m not sure how I’ll look in a suit – a bit of a mishmash I should think.
Still, at least it’s not a combover. That’s just sad. Jude is getting used to it, but still regrets not having something ‘to get a hold of’ whatever she means by that!
Spotted this in the monthly NTK email today. I (very tenously) worked with Merkey when he was at Novell working on the Wolf Mountain project. I remember him sitting in the front of the System Engineering group pontificating about how good the technology would be, how it would halt the downturn in Novell’s fortunes and save the universe from the highly anticipated heat death. After he left and started up a company (Timpanogos Research Group) producing a clone of the Wolf Mountain product, I remember emailing him to ask why he’d stabbed us in the back – the reply didn’t answer the question, but told me to speak to the management at Novell to find out “The Truth”.
Well, the truth came out in 1998, when Novell won the dispute through legal channels. Interesting to note that one of Jeff’s co-defendants and President of TRG was none other than Darren Major, brother of Drew Major. I imagine some pacy dinner table conversations in the Major house back then!
Anyway, Jeff’s back. He offered to buy a snapshot of Linux and was told to piss off (I paraphrase), but in doing so kicked off such a fuss that he now seeks 100 million dollars to make himself feel better.
You couldn’t make it up, could you?
42. Much of the activities of Linux and OSS have served to create a funneling system allowing sensitive and advanced technology created by computer technology companies in the United States to be illegally exported out of the United States and into the hands of the citizens of other countries.
43. As a result of these activities, a large portion of US technology has been unwittingly placed into the hands of various groups around the world, including Al-Queda, and other groups who sponsor international terrorism.
44. As a result of these activities, a large portion of US technology has been unwittingly placed into the hands of various groups around the world, including radical governments and groups who sponsor and have used the technology in support of the creation of weapons of mass murder and mass destruction designed to murder American Citizens and their families.
45. As a result of these activities, a large portion of US technology has been unwittingly placed into the hands of various groups around the world, and has crippled and destroyed the commercial computer software technology markets in the United States by destroying their ability to charge money for their technology and has harmed the cause of commerce within the United States.
46. The beheading and murder of United States Citizens in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other countries have been videotaped, converted to MPEG and other images for viewing on the public Internet through the use of OSS and Linux software and computer technology developed and purloined by Linux and OSS members and illegally exported from the United States.
47. Companies which sponsor, endorse, and support OSS and Linux, and those acting in concert as their advocates have been unwitting participants in wholesale technology theft of United States developed technology and sponsors of domestic and international terrorism.
Quite how you get to beheadings from the Linux kernel source code I don’t know, but in playing the terrorism card in an attempt to make himself rich, the last vestige of respect I had for the guy’s intellect just went ‘poof’.
