I think it's the ridiculous level of expectations we place on NYE that makes it so often shit. I mean it's not a lot to ask, is it, to have a world beatingly good time on exactly the same night as everyone else inthe world has decided to have their party, the inconvenient selfish tossers?

Hope L's head is better, and your mates wake up to themselves. Happy New year, regardless!

That sounds absolutely awful. Can't get much worse than that. Unfortunately that type of parent is all too familiar a type.

Anyway I hope you've all recovered now and that the next trip out's a bit less traumatic.

Hi Vanessa: You're right, the expectations people have for NYE are pretty ridiculous. I suppose as I get older, my increasing pessimism stands me in good stead for this.

Luke is better now, just a big scab on his forehead that will probably leave a scar for a few years.

Cliff: It was pretty shite. At the risk of descending into Clicheville, the medicos were great. Took the ambulance a while to get there but they were top notch when they did arrive. They said they were happy not to be picking up another corpse(!) Christmas time, they get a lot of that, seemingly.
